Dez's Fresh 48 | Sacred Heart Hospital NICU

Intuition. I think pregnant women have it in SPADES. Maybe they don’t recognize it as more than a feeling or a desire, but I so often see it in hindsight. Britney + Kyle had originally booked me for birth photography. About a month before, Britney decided she’d rather have a Fresh 48 and a newborn session and it is fortunate she did.

She ended up with an emergency c-section and Dez was in the Sacred Heart Hospital NICU for a few days. It’s very unlikely that I would have been allowed into the OR for an emergency cesarean. There isn’t really even time to ask permission. Everyone becomes laser-focused on getting the baby out and it happens FAST.

I was recovering from a bad car accident, so back-up photographer Melissa was able to meet them in Sacred’s brand new NICU with private rooms a couple of days later for their Fresh 48. I’m so jealous. I STILL haven’t seen the new NICU in person. It looks so wonderful!
