Happy Birthday Lucy | Mobile, AL Birth Photographer
Krissy called me one morning in May to say she was in labor. I was really looking forward to this birth because a) Iād missed my last 2 due to COVID-19 and b) it was going to be my first birth with Alabama midwife, Colleen Tullis (Motherās Comfort Birthing Services).
But a few hours later she checked back in to let me know labor had stopped. And it didnāt restart all day.
The next call I received was in the middle of the nightā¦ Labor had begun again and in FULL FORCE. However, Colleen was stuck at her birth center with another difficult labor. So Krissy and her husband were driving to deliver thereā¦ in Mississippiā¦ over 2 hours from me.
She was laboring so hard, unsure she would even make to the birth center in time. But I jumped in the car anyway and hauled butt across 2 state lines, praying weād all make it in time.
They didā¦ I didnāt.
Even though I missed the actual birth, we were still able to capture the details of the birth space and all of those wonderful postpartum moments.
