How to Change a Diaper on Your Lap

We’ve all been there.
Baby needs to be changed and there is no changing table to be found.
What’s a mom to do?

STEP 1

Sit down and pull a clean diaper, wipes, and anything else you like handy for changes out of your bag. Put these beside you and within easy reach. Lay baby on your lap, face up with her head at your knees. (Optional: boop her nose.)

STEP 2

Remove baby’s pants and unsnap onesie at the crotch.

Once the clothing is off, I like to lay the clean diaper out under baby before I take off the old one. But Kelly takes the more hardcore mom approach and leaves Hazel bare butt on her lap. (Note: this is a good way to get peed on.)

STEP 3

Clean baby’s bottom with a wipe and proceed to arrange the clean diaper accordingly.

STEP 4

Secure diaper in place with velcro tabs (for disposable) or snaps/etc (for cloth).

STEP 6

Enjoy your clean, dry baby for a minute before disposing of the old diaper and returning your diaper changing necessities to your bag.

This silly post was really just me making an opportunity to use these adorable photos from Kelly’s Project Fed session. But I think all of us moms can relate.

Jump down to the comments and tell me about a time you had to change your baby on your lap…bonus points if your story includes getting peed on.
