Jack's Just Moved In Newborn Session | Pensacola Photographer
After his Fresh 48 at home because of COVID-19, Jack’s family moved into a new house and his dad went out of town on an extended work trip. We had a narrow window in which to get his newborn session done between their move-in date and dad’s departure.
With the new house still not totally finished and the furniture not arriving on time, we had some challenges to work around. But also an opportunity to tell a great narrative of this time of transition. We used the beautiful front porch, the moving boxes, a white comforter over a mattress on the floor in a spare bedroom, the nursery (which Taylor rushed to put together only weeks post-c-section), and all of big brother Adam’s vivacious energy to our advantage.
I hope this goes to show you that your home doesn’t need to be perfect to make a great lifestyle newborn session. All we need is light, love, and creative use of angles to hide the half-finished kitchen backsplash and a very fussy, cluster feeding baby.
It’s been a difficult and disappointing time for birth photographers and birthing mamas around the world. At the same time, it’s all part of a really unique story that is worth documenting. Don’t get discouraged by all of the ways things aren’t working out the way you hoped. Be like Taylor and Colin. See it all as an opportunity and do it all anyway, trusting that there is still beautiful magic to be made in spite of the mess.
